The Jugendforum NRW and many other institutions and companies are offering interesting informations to topics like protection of minors, mediacompetences and games.
Speakers' Corner
Speakers’ Corner will offer exciting speeches, discussions, presentations and shows all about media pedagogy, the protection of minors and of course, games. The "Concept Arts" live show by Robs Creations will surely be one of the highlights at Speakers' Corner. They will present a kind of glass studio on the subject of game design. You will have the opportunity to ask a professional game designer your questions about game design and look over his shoulder whilst he draws.
Retro exhibition
The retro world will once again invite you to take an exciting trip back into the history of games and computers. Consoles from Nintendo, SEGA, Commodore, Sony and Sinclair await you to enjoy a retro
game. Many people will still remember the good old days, and those who cannot can get an impression of how gaming was not all so long ago.
German Casemod Championship
During the first three days of the venue, teams with two members each will have an overall time budget of 24 hours spread over the first three days in order to build an extraordinary case out of an identical standard case. During the 24 hours the visitors of the gamescom can watch the teams turning a “boring” standard case into something unique. This is quite spectacular as even sparks will be thrown out.
Learning islands
Digital games are acquiring a fixed place in the daily media life of children and young people. Parents and education experts are often very distanced from this new culture. The learning islands will help to build a bridge between these two worlds. Parents, children and education experts can find out all about the subject of computer games and under supervision discover the gaming world for themselves.

Germany’s computer game industry is still one of the country's strongest growth markets and offers interesting professional prospects to qualified applicants. For this reason, IDG Entertainment Media GmbH and Koelnmesse are organising the "Jobs & Careers" centre at this year's gamescom. Germany’s most successful game companies will look for new employees and everal

The Art of Games
With „The Art of Games“ Aruba Events is planning the first exhibition only for videogame-pictures since 2010. You can find some Concept
Arts in this exhibition. Those illustrations visualizing ideas of game designers. They are interesting for gamers, because the Concept Arts often are really not similar to the final product. The Art of Games shows impressions of the development of videogame-characters and the levels in which he can move.
Guided tours
Guided tours are held on Thursday, Friday and Sunday (as part of the gamescom family day). Those wishing to take part are asked to meet at the speakers’ corner. The tours are free of charge and will be offered each of these days at 11:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
