Opening concert at Tanzbrunnen
The festival will kick off on Wednesday, 18 August, with an open-air opening concert at Tanzbrunnen at 7:00 p.m. Two of the best live acts on the German music scene, Stanfour and Revolverheld, will officially start the gamescom event in Cologne. Both bands stormed the charts with their albums in recent years and will rock the cathedral and trade fair city during their ongoing tour.
Three-day gamescom city festival in Cologne’s city centre
The three-day gamescom city festival in Cologne’s city centre starts on Friday, 20 August. International musical acts like the Shout Out Louds, Dúné and Aura Dione, as well as German bands like 2raumwohnung and Klee will turn Cologne's "Ring" between Rudolfplatz and Friesenplatz into the city's entertainment hotspot from 6:00 p.m. (Sunday after 4:00 p.m.) to 10:00 p.m. following the trade fair. Guests will enjoy more games, presentations and show trucks at the festival, giving newcomers the chance to experience the fascinating work of interactive gaming. The slogan "Celebrate the Games" continues here – and the entire event is free of charge.
10 years of NightWash
NightWash, the classic comedy show from the “Kölner Waschsalon”, will also celebrate its 10-year anniversary at Tanzbrunnen. Klaus-Jürgen “Knacki” Deuser, the founder and host of the show currently airing on “Einsfestival”, will present the open-air anniversary event with his "band" Alex Flucht on the evening of Friday 20 August. Visitors can anticipate a very special reunion – with 24 comedians that represent the "best of" of the last 10 years on stage. For more information, see www.nightwash.de.
