More than 30 exhibitors, clubs, associations, institutions, and educational institutions actively participated in the “gamesCompetence” program at gamescom 2009.
The gamesCompetence concept of gamescom brings together and coordinates all of the presentations and information on the topics of the protection of minors, media expertise and media education at gamescom.
The central elements of gamesCompetence are:

Social consequences of games.
The gamescom congress is a free event organised by the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia, the City of Cologne and the BIU (German Federal Association for Entertainment Software). Organisation and realisation by HMR International.

Industry decision makers are especially confronted with the new issues and challenges arising from the increasing popularity of online and social games.
